Santa Fe

We were awake at 4:15 this morning so we could get to the train station on time, only to discover the train was delayed by almost 2 hours. Nevermind, there was a cosy waiting room with a TV, so the wait wasn't too tough. There were a large group of Amish people waiting to get on the train too, which was interesting to see. The train trip took just over 6 hours with snow covered vistas out the window. Had a bit of a snooze. The train dropped us off at Lamy, a 20 min drive from Santa Fe. We caught a shuttle, with a 70 year old driver who loved to talk about the history of the area, dad would have loved him! Last time we were in Santa Fe, 22 years ago, Grant and I had a bad afternoon, a memory engraved on our minds. We were keen to replace this with pleasant memories, so splashed out the our accomodation. Wow, we are in the lap of luxury tonight, we did have to get Grant up a flight of stairs, but it is worth it (not sure what happened with booking communications!) tomorrow night we move downstairs, not quite so luxurious, but better access for Grant. Santa Fe is quite touristy, an expensive place to live, but lovely to visit. Tim thought it felt a bit like Hanmer.  We are just investigating options for tomorrow, will let you know what we get up to. One interesting thing over here that is different from home, is that Christmas seems to keep going after Christmas... Christmas music plays and the lights and decoration are really gorgeous.

Great pics again! The upstairs bit would have been a bit of a challenge- but you are are up to it!
We felt for you with a 4am start- a couple of hours to spare!
Must be exciting getting so close to the real snow action.
We checked on your location on google maps- you are nearly one third of the way across America!
You all seem to enjoying all the new stuff.
Will be interested in what else you get up to in Santa Fe.
Do have fun!
Love to all,
pa
